About

My name is Leslie Mattern, I am 29 years old and the mother of two beautiful daughters, ages 5 and 3. I have been married for 6.5 years now and am currently working on a degree in Criminalistics.

I decided to become a surrogate because I want to be able to help give a family the same joy I have when spending time with my girls. I can’t imagine what some of these families have gone through trying to conceive a child of their own. I had such wonderful pregnancies and absolutely loved every minute of each one, and I’m looking forward to getting to share the experience with such a wonderful couple.

I get the question “won’t it be hard to give up your baby?”, and the answer is absolutely not! I’m going into this knowing that this baby (or babies) is not mine and getting to spend time with my IPs and experience and share their excitement helps make this journey all the more special, especially since, by a crazy twist of fate, we got matched with family.

  1. I am wanting to become a surrogate possibly, I just don’t want it to be my egg. It doesn’t sound like it was your egg/eggs in the process? I guess that is my main question for you if you don’t mind answering…? Sherri

    • Sherri,
That is an excellent question! (I think you’ve given me an idea for a blog post!) The easy answer is no, they were not my eggs. I was a Gestational Surrogate. What you’re talking about is Traditional Surrogacy and, from my understanding, it’s very uncommon.

My suggestion is to do a LOT of research and find a great agency to work with. They will help protect your best interests and can make the process a lot more smooth and simple. Plus they are great for answering any specific concerns and questions you may have throughout your journey. I am partial to ConceiveAbilities, because I’ve worked with them for both my journies so far, but there are a lot out there. Find what works best for you!

      Hope that helped!
